Weapons and explosives are divided into several categories, each usable by specific or all classes.
Assault riflesThey offer good accuracy and reload quite quickly, but at the cost of low magazine capacity. Used by Riflemen. |
Machine gunsAllow you to cover vast areas of terrain with lead, but are less accurate and take much longer to reload, leaving you vulnerable during that period. Used by Riflemen. |
ShotgunsIdeal for extremely close range combat. Shotguns come in two general varieties – automatic and pump-action. These weapons work exceptionally well combined with the sliding special move, allowing you to score more points with trick shots. Used by Medics. |
Sub-machine gunsPerfect for quick and deadly bursts at close range, though somewhat lacking the accuracy and stopping power that is required to engage targets further away. You need to keep that in mind and avoid fighting in the open, taking special care to watch for snipers. Used by Engineers. |
Sniper riflesThere are two kinds of sniper rifles: automatic and bolt-action rifles. The former offers a slightly higher fire rate at the cost of decreased range and stopping power, while the latter are the strongest, but at the expense of speed. Used by Snipers. |
Fragmentation grenadesMost generally used to flush enemies from cover or kill packed groups when timed correctly. While throwing the grenade, you get the option to 'cook' it by holding the left mouse button instead of throwing it immediately – this will deny enemies any chance of escaping the blast but at the same time might cause you to get injured or killed if you hold the grenade for too long. Used by all classes. |
Smoke grenadesUseful for concealing your own movement/actions from the enemy. In Co-op and Special Operations, it prohibits the AI from shooting at allies and mission objectives covered with smoke. Used by all classes. |
Flashbang grenadesEveryone caught within the blast radius will be blinded for a period of time. Some helmets provide limited protection against this effect. It's very easy for the user to get affected with the grenade as well, so extra care should be taken while throwing it. Used by all classes. |
MinesHard to spot and kills its victims instantly, unless they are wearing special protective gear. You need to be careful not to be caught in the blast too, as the blast of your own mine will injure and possibly kill you too. Mines have to be set up first, make sure you pick places likely to be traversed by enemies. Used by the Engineer (Directional Mines) and the Sniper (Anti-Personnel Mines). |
