The first EU Challenge Cup results

The first preliminary Challenge Cup stage has taken place on the 8th of October. 12 teams have participated – both veterans and newcomers.
Two team favorites (Exception and ExD) were at the center of the attention. The fate has placed two main victory contenders in different places of the tournament table, so their meeting happened only during the final showdown.
Exception had to give its all against Showing Off already in the ¼ of the tournament. The latter tried to direct the course of the match but lacked the experience of the co-op play. This team was created only recently and simply didn’t have enough time played together. Far more experience players from Exception outplayed the opponents on two maps and entered semi-finals, where they devastated team East.
ExD was leading far more. It took them just 2 games to reach the final. The first was against ExPosEd, where the latter managed to win only at 5 rounds. The second one was played against the Portuguese team TaComLincenca with the 2:0 score. Excellent game and a well-earned entry to the final.
The decisive match of the 1st stage of Challenge Cup was a meeting between two main tournament favorites. The membership of both team is composed of experienced players, who have played a lot together and won quite a few times at the tournaments starting from ESL and up to Community Cups. Two maps were played and Exception turned out to be the winner both times. 11:8 on Destination and 13:11 on Factory. ExD had all chances of winning the second one but the amount of mistakes has led the team down. The nervousness of several members has also taken its toll. Exception had been making plenty of mistakes as well, often unforgivable – but ExD still failed more often and in more impacting ways, which is why they lost. A good game from both teams and well-earned first and second places in the tournament.
It is important to highlight Exception’s sniper -iNeO-, who has reached 178 frags throughout 4 matches and thus made the biggest contribution towards Exception’s victory.
